A designer could happily bang on about the ins and outs of imagery all day. It’s pretty obvious that all photos must be of high quality and professional, but did anyone mention “relevant”? Any imagery that you use needs to effectively communicate your service, your unique value proposition or what your business is about.
So often, large stock imagery takes up the whole prime real estate area of a website’s homepage only to leave the visitor wondering “what does this business do”? Capitalise on the space and add taglines and captions to your imagery to further articulate your offering and the benefits to your target market. Be specific and make it crystal clear.
